We Can All Benefit From Therapy!

Writer's picture: Rachel AllenRachel Allen

Most of my clients I’ve seen in the past have entered therapy without knowing what’s wrong, and feeling that there is something shameful about attending therapy, as if it makes them weak or unable to cope on their own. I often try to remind my fellow humans that you do not have to know what the problem is to attend therapy, and you do not even need a specific problem to attend therapy. Sometimes, we just need to sit with someone who believes in our worth, in our potential, and is simply present with us. Overcoming the stigma that taking care of ourselves is selfish or is not reasonable is a big problem in our society. Attending therapy is like getting your vehicle serviced- you need to do these things to keep your vehicle up and running so you can get where you need to go! Therapy is the same- we all need maintenance! Let’s show ourselves some love!
